Jalapão Region

Situated in the eastern region of Tocantins, Jalapão is a region embracing eight counties, but only the first four listed below form part of the ecotourism route operated by Realize agency. The eight counties are: Ponte Alta do Tocantins, Mateiros, São Félix do Tocantins, Novo Acordo, Santa Tereza do Tocantins, Lagoa do Tocantins, Lizarda and Rio Sono. The most part of attraction of the region is located in the municipality of Mateiros.

DAY 1 –  Palmas/ Ponte Alta do Tocantins/ Mateiros

7h – Departure to Ponte Alta do Tocantins – 150 km of paved road


  • Canyon Sussuapara
  • Cachoeira da Velha/ Prainha do Rio Novo (Rio Novo little beach)
  • Dunes – Sunset

– Overnight in Mateiros

DAY 2  Mateiros


  • Fervedouro Encontro dos Rios – the lowest in the region
  • Formiga Waterfall – swimming and flotation
  • Mumbuca Community – cradle of the on golden grass craftwork

– Overnight in Mateiros

DAY 3 –   Mateiros/ São Felix do TO/ Novo Acordo/ Palmas


  • Fervedouro Bela Vista – the largest in the region
  • Rafting in Soninho River
  • Sierra da Cathedral
  • Red Hill

– 13h – Return to Palmas
